Alternatives
MeasureSquare alternatives for flooring dealers
Start with the work you need to change: tracing drawings, planning carpet seams, maintaining prices or sending estimates to accounting. These five options solve different parts of that job. We sell SquareTally, and explain its limits alongside the other products.
Choose by the finished job. Test your own drawing and quote in each shortlisted tool. Include the required edition, accounting connector and team size in the price comparison.
What you would be replacing
MeasureSquare 8 pricing lists Windows editions at $540/year for Retail, $1,640/year for Multi-family and $1,970/year for Commercial, each for one user. Single-page PDF takeoff appears in Multi-family; Commercial adds batch PDF import and AI takeoff. The cheapest edition therefore should not stand in for every plan-based estimating workflow.
MeasureSquare's product range covers hardwood, carpet, sheet vinyl and tile. If seam layouts and roll allocation matter to your business, include them in the test job before switching.
There is also a QuickBooks Online connection in MeasureSquare CRM. Sales Essential is listed at $69/month or $690/year per user. Treat that as a separate product when asking for the total takeoff-to-accounting price; do not assume the desktop takeoff license alone includes the CRM workflow.
Five alternatives to evaluate
Total Takeoffs — catalog integration and an outsourcing option
Its QuickBooks page describes catalog imports in either direction and takeoff lines imported into estimates. It advertises $49/month, while the main pricing page lists TradeTek Single User at $99/month or $995/year per computer. Confirm which offer and connector you would receive. The requirements list Windows and macOS. There is also a separate estimating service. Our comparison covers the pricing discrepancy and workflow.
PlanSwift — a Windows takeoff and estimating tool
PlanSwift Professional is listed at US$2,000 for an annual subscription including updates, support and two hours of training. Older one-time prices do not describe this current offer. Its pricing page also presents Takeoff Boost AI tools for measurement, counting and scaling.
Check your hardware against ConstructConnect's requirements: PlanSwift runs on Windows and does not install directly on macOS. Ask the demo team to show your product assemblies and exact export destination. Read the PlanSwift comparison.
Buildxact — estimating with job management
The US pricing page lists Foundation at $199/month, Pro at $399/month and Master at $599/month, with unlimited users. Annual billing totals are $2,030, $4,070 and $6,110 respectively. Foundation includes digital takeoffs; Pro adds job management and schedules. The free Go offer uses credits and is not equivalent to a full digital-takeoff subscription.
Buildxact's accounting page describes QuickBooks Online and Xero connections, including invoice and purchase-order synchronization, and lists accounting integrations under Pro. This is worth evaluating when the problem extends beyond producing the estimate into managing the build.
FloorWizard, from FloorSoft — flooring layouts and cut sheets
FloorSoft presents FloorWizard as flooring estimating and project-management software. Its product brochure describes optimizing cut sheets for rolled goods and showing seam placements. That makes it a candidate to test when carpet layout is central to the job. Request pricing and a demonstration on your intended devices; the reviewed overview does not provide a subscription price grid.
SquareTally — our hardwood material-quoting workflow
Solo is $79/month, Pro $215 and Studio $429, with one, five and fifteen seats respectively and unlimited projects on paid plans. Annual prices are $790, $2,150 and $4,290. All three include material takeoffs: upload a plan, calibrate its scale, trace the rooms, apply editable waste rates and review prices from your vendor PDFs. Pro and Studio add room illustrations. This workflow requires you to measure and review; it does not automatically extract every room from a plan set.
Export a branded material PDF or create linked material and labor drafts in QuickBooks Online. Current QuickBooks export supports zero-tax quotes; use the PDF for quotes with tax. The material workflow uses one product and laying style per room and does not plan carpet seams or optimize rolls. The separate Lite plan at $50/month supports installation quotes and room measuring, without material waste rules or vendor price lists.
Where AI takeoff fits
Bobyard for Finishes detects rooms, areas and finish types, then carries quantities into an estimate with material and labor costs. Togal describes AI measurement, counting and collaboration, with quantities exported to estimating software or Excel. Include these tools if reviewing automatic detections is your priority. Ask each vendor to demonstrate pricing and accounting handoff; an export and a native estimate in your accounting system are different outcomes.

Test the switch before moving your catalog
Choose a completed job with known quantities, a representative price sheet and a quote your customer understood. Recreate it, then revise the product, waste allowance and room selection. Check whether those revisions reach the PDF and accounting document correctly. Include the time to recreate templates and train each estimator in your decision.
For a hardwood dealer, the dealer workflow shows how SquareTally handles your price sources. For an installer quoting a written scope, start with the installation workflow. The right comparison begins with the work your shop actually does.
- Which alternatives can I use on a Mac?
- SquareTally and Buildxact run in a browser. Total Takeoffs lists macOS support for TradeTek. PlanSwift requires Windows; confirm any virtual-machine setup against its support requirements.
- Which option should I test for carpet seams?
- MeasureSquare and FloorWizard describe flooring layout and seam capabilities. Test a real carpet job in the edition offered. SquareTally does not plan carpet seams.
- Should I switch just for a lower subscription price?
- Compare the required features, seats, annual commitment and accounting connector first. Include the work to recreate your catalog and templates, then test one completed job before migrating.
- Why is SquareTally included in this comparison?
- We make SquareTally. It is included for shops quoting hardwood from plans and vendor sheets, alongside four other products that may suit different workflows.
